As a result of the cooperation between Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Applied Sciences and Antalya West Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute, the turmeric seedlings planted on 26 July 2022 in the Greenhouses of Muş Alparslan University Complex were harvested.

Curcuma longa L., known as turmeric, is a plant species belonging to the Zingiberaceae family. Turmeric is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, especially in Asian countries. This plant species is used in many sectors, especially spices, and has an important commercial potential. Within the scope of the project carried out by the Directorate of the Western Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute in Turkey, its cultivation was started and the gene pool was created. 16 genotypes were selected with high efficiency from the gene pool consisting of 140 genotypes with introduction materials from China, India and Peru. Among the selected genotypes, a total of 40 ginger seedlings, 20 from each of the 58-1 and 73-4 genotypes, were planted on 26 July 2022 in order to determine their performance in Muş ecological conditions within the framework of the cooperation between Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Applied Sciences and Antalya West Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute. planting was carried out. 20 seedlings in each genotype, a total of 2 genotypes and 40 turmeric seedlings were planted at 05 x 05 cm spacings in the Medicinal and Aromatic plants greenhouse of our University Complex.

As of January 18, 2023, tuber harvesting was successfully carried out for the first time from 2 genotypes of turmeric seedlings.
