Silage Soybeans Promising for Muş Plain Extension Project Opening Program Held

The opening program of the "Silage Soybeans Promising for Muş Plain", supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Education and Publication Department in cooperation with Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Applied Sciences, Muş Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and Adana Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute, took place online.

In his speech about the contributions of the project to Muş and the region, Karadağ emphasized that with this project supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Department of Education and Publication, the farmers aim to increase the variety of products with high added value on an area of 15 decares in the Central Çöğürlü and Özdilek villages of Muş Province.

Montenegro listed the aims of the project as follows. Ensuring the expansion of cultivation areas by introducing Yemsoy and Yeşilsoy silage soybean varieties to Muş, contributing to the increase in yield in animal production by increasing the production areas of soybean with high feed quality in animal nutrition, increasing soil quality and yield by rotating silage soybean cultivation in agricultural production lands, increasing soybean silage to producers. To contribute to the reduction of feed costs and to raise the awareness of the farmers about soybean cultivation by teaching them to use different techniques in the production of high quality roughage.

Adana Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute Deputy Director Dr. In his speech, İbrahim Cerit said, “Our institute has concluded 10 innovation publication projects until the end of 2022 within the scope of promotion and dissemination of soybean varieties. In 2023, there are 4 innovation publication projects that have just started. The publication project “Silage Soybeans Promises Hope for the Plain of Muş”, whose opening meeting we held today, is one of these projects. This project will be carried out in Muş province under the coordination of our institute, in cooperation with Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Applied Sciences and Muş Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.” said.

In his speech, Eşref Süne, Deputy Director of Muş Provincial Agriculture and Forestry, said, “Our province is a city of agriculture and animal husbandry. We have a good potential in cattle and small cattle breeding. In addition, we have a plain like the Muş plain in our arable land. Despite this, we still have deficiencies in the production of high quality roughage. With the project "Silage Soybeans Promises Hope for Muş" supported by the Education and Publication Department of our Ministry, we will have realized a first in our city in order to close our roughage deficit in the field of forage crops by planting soybean silage on an area of 15 decares in our province for demonstration purposes. I wish that this project will be beneficial in order to contribute to the breeders of our province and the economy of the region.”
